2. How to do testing for products labeled as 14+?

For a product labeled 14+ if the customer insists on doing the safety test, there are usually 2 methods of approach:  

  

2.1 Lower the age range

When filling out the test application form, ask the lab to do the test according to the guidelines for products labeled for ages 13+.
  

2.2 Perform the test according to guidelines for adult product(s)

2.2.1 USA

The product will be scheduled for testing according to guidelines for a standard consumer product.
The following tests may be required in accordance with U.S. federal regulations: (including but not limited to)
  • 16CFR1303 Lead Content
  • CA Prob 65
  • UPLR (Fair Packaging Act)
  • ....
  • ....

For specific testing items, the laboratory needs to select the appropriate testing items according to your product category, materials, and functions.

2.2.2 EU

In general, test items will be selected according to the GPSD General Product Safety Directive. Electrically charged products will refer to both EMC Directive and ROHS Directive.
